| Windows XP Service Pack 2 addresses many security and functionality
issues in regards to web-usage. Some of these enhancements may affect
the way you use the Autoliv Partner Portal, though it is our opinion
that these changes are in fact for the best. As such, we recommend
that you apply the following three criteria when using Windows XP
with Service Pack 2, which should enable you to use both our site
and Windows XP to the fullest. The three areas where we have seen
issues are when users try to download a document,
when they try to access an application (and
the new pop-up blocker stops the page), and when trying to view
documents in general. |
| Please read the following areas to address any of these issues
you may be experiencing. |
| |
| Trusted Domains (Downloading Documents) |
| When downloading certain documents (such as from the Engineering
Documents System), the browser must first trust the site it is downloading
the file from (this was added to prevent the accidental download
of viruses.) In order to download these documents, you must first
add the Autoliv domains to your list of trusted sites. To do this,
follow these simple instruction. |
| 1. Go to "Tools-->Internet Options..." in your
Browser
2. Click on the ''Security" tab
3. Click on the "Trusted Sites" icon and click on "Sites..."
4. Un-select the "Require server..." checkbox.
5. Add the three domains as shown below.
6. Click OK.

| Saving
Encrypted Files to Disk |
| Occasionally when a user tries to view a document,
they will get an error saying "The internet page can’t
be opened. It is either not available or couldn’t be
found. Try again later". This is because in order to
open a copy of this document for viewing, it must first create
a cached version on your local machine. This is the default
action on most pages. However, if you have disabled this,
you will not be able to view the documents. To re-enable this
and fix this problem, follow these steps: |
| 1. Go to "Tools-->Internet
Options..." in your Browser
2. Click on the ''Advanced" tab
3. Scroll down to "Security"
4. Make sure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk"
is NOT checked. |

| Pop-Up Blockers |
| If you are running Windows XP SP2 or later (which
has a built-in pop-up blocker) it will prevent the applicaitons
from opening in a new window. However, you can easily correct this
problem without disabling your valuable pop-up blocker. |
There are several ways to disable pop-up blockers for the Autoliv
Portal. Typically, popup blocking software provides some way to
allow selected popup windows for designated sites. Most popup-blocking
software will allow you to create a list of "safe sites"
or "friendly sites", which in effect tells it to not
block pop-up's on these particular sites.
|
| Please follow these
instructions for allowing Autoliv-bases sites to work with it
without having to disable it.
1 - Open Internet Explorer
2 - On the Toolbar, select "Tools, Pop-up Blocker, Pop-up
Blocker Settings..."
3 - On the Pop-Up Blocker settings page, add the following three
autoliv items:
*.autoliv.biz, *.autoliv.com, *.autolivasp.com (see below)

4 - Click close.
